Dusan Vlahovic scored a crucial goal against Verona on Sunday, his first in 180 days, but contract renewal negotiations with Juventus remain stalled according to reports in Italy. Despite five meetings between club officials and the player’s father, Milos Vlahovic, an agreement has not been reached with 56 days remaining on the Serbian striker’s current deal.
Vlahovic’s goal against Verona offered a temporary reprieve for Juventus and bolstered his claim for a starting role under manager Massimiliano Allegri, particularly in the pursuit of a Champions League qualification. However, the future beyond the current season is uncertain, with renewal talks hitting a snag despite both parties expressing a desire to continue their association.
The Vlahovic camp has indicated a willingness to agree to a short-term renewal at a salary comparable to Kenan Yildiz, approximately €7 million per year, significantly less than his current earnings of €12 million. The sticking point lies in additional costs, specifically agent commissions and a signing bonus. Juventus are reportedly attempting to limit these expenses, signaling a firm stance in negotiations.
Sources at the club have indicated that Juventus have a budgetary limit and will not exceed it, effectively issuing an ultimatum to the Vlahovic representatives. Conversely, the player’s side are not under immediate pressure to accept, as a strong finish to the season could increase his value as a free agent, potentially attracting interest from clubs like Milan and Bayern Munich. Both Juventus and Vlahovic are prioritizing securing Champions League football, which could influence the direction of negotiations in the coming weeks.
