Everton are preparing for a busy summer transfer window with plans to strengthen in multiple positions, according to sources at TEAMtalk. The club’s objective is to build a squad capable of challenging for European qualification next season, despite potentially falling short of that goal this term.
Manager David Moyes has overseen encouraging progress since returning to Goodison Park and the club’s ownership, The Friedkin Group, are reportedly highly satisfied with his work. Discussions regarding a new contract for the 62-year-old Scot are anticipated in the coming weeks, reflecting their long-term faith in his leadership.
Moyes’ experience and tactical approach have been credited with stabilising the team and shifting their trajectory towards European contention. Everton’s recruitment drive will focus on bringing in reinforcements in attack, midfield, and defence.
Several players are reportedly on Everton’s shortlist. West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen, a player Moyes is familiar with, is identified as a potential attacking target, though his availability may be complicated by West Ham’s potential relegation. Chelsea’s Liam Delap, previously a target last summer, remains of interest despite a challenging spell at Stamford Bridge. The club is also considering a permanent deal or another loan for Manchester City’s Jack Grealish, while Fulham winger Harry Wilson, set to be a free agent, is also on the radar.
Defensive targets include Osasuna’s Enzo Boyomo and Juventus’ Federico Gatti, as the club seeks to address vulnerabilities in central defence, particularly given recent injuries to Jarrad Branthwaite and the age of current options James Tarkowski and Michael Keane. Celta Vigo’s Oscar Mingueza, available on a free transfer, and Wolves’ Hugo Bueno are potential full-back options.
Midfield reinforcements are also a priority, with Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney and Udinese’s Arthur Atta both monitored. The future of Idrissa Gana Gueye, whose contract expires at the end of the season, could also influence midfield recruitment. While financial prudence will remain important, the club is said to have greater flexibility this summer.
Securing European football would significantly enhance Everton’s appeal to potential signings and improve their financial position. Sources indicate the club is now better equipped to compete in the transfer market than in recent windows, and are focused on both finishing the season strongly and identifying targets to elevate the squad.
