Inter Milan have submitted a €20m (£17.3m) bid for Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, with the clubs reportedly €10m (£8.7m) apart in valuation according to Italian reporter Gianluca Di Marzio. The Serie A champions previously attempted to sign Jones in January, proposing a loan deal with an option to buy, but Liverpool rejected the offer, wanting to maintain squad depth under then-manager Jurgen Klopp.
Jones, 25, has grown increasingly frustrated with limited opportunities in his preferred midfield position, often being deployed at right-back by Arne Slot. The Liverpool academy graduate is the only Scouser currently in the first-team squad, but is reportedly open to a move to Italy for more consistent playing time. His contract situation has left Liverpool in a weakened negotiating position, as talks over an extension have stalled, with Fabrizio Romano reporting the parties are “far, far away” from an agreement.
The Merseyside club are seeking a fee closer to €30m (£26m) for Jones, recognising his versatility despite his expiring contract. The player’s value has decreased due to the limited time remaining on his current deal. Several other Liverpool players are also subject to potential departures this summer, including Andy Robertson, who is reportedly heading to Tottenham, and Mohamed Salah, whose future remains uncertain.
Ibrahima Konate is also in contract negotiations, with talks at a late stage, while Federico Chiesa and Joe Gomez are both potential candidates for sale. The potential sale of Jones would further contribute to a significant squad overhaul at Anfield as Slot prepares for his first season in charge. A move to Inter Milan would provide Jones with a new challenge in a top European league and the opportunity to establish himself as a key player.
