Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Borussia Dortmund left-back Daniel Svensson, according to CaughtOffside. The Premier League club, along with Arsenal, are considering a move for the Swedish international following his recent appearance at the World Cup.
Liverpool are currently considered the frontrunners in the pursuit of Svensson, prompted by the recent departure of Andy Robertson to Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer. While the club possesses other options at left-back, including Piero Hincapie, they experienced several defensive injuries throughout the 2025/26 season, highlighting a need for further reinforcement in that position.
Borussia Dortmund are in a strong negotiating position, with Svensson currently under contract until 2029. Bild reports that the Bundesliga side could demand a transfer fee in the region of €30 million for the 24-year-old. Dortmund originally acquired Svensson from FC Nordsjaelland for €6.5 million just 18 months ago, demonstrating his rapid rise in value.
Svensson has established himself as a regular in the Dortmund squad, making 45 Bundesliga appearances, with 35 of those being starts. He also featured in Sweden’s starting eleven during their Round of 32 exit from the World Cup against France. Dortmund recently signed Kauã Prates to compete at left-back, but the 17-year-old will miss the start of pre-season due to an injury, potentially increasing the need to retain or replace Svensson.
Should Svensson complete a move to Anfield, he would likely compete with Hincapie for the starting left-back role, providing Liverpool with valuable depth and competition in a key defensive area.
