Liverpool are now in a strong position to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola after Arsenal have prioritised other targets, according to multiple reports. The development comes as PSG appear willing to reshape their attacking options, with agreements already in place for new arrivals.
PSG have reportedly agreed personal terms with Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche on a five-year contract, with discussions now underway between the two clubs. Additionally, Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig has indicated a willingness to join the French champions should he leave his current club this summer. These potential signings have opened the door for Barcola’s departure, particularly after contract extension talks in Paris stalled.
Liverpool had previously seen a move for Diomande fall through, and have subsequently identified Barcola as their primary winger target. However, a deal will not be inexpensive, with PSG reportedly seeking a minimum of €135 million (£116 million) for the 21-year-old. Despite the high asking price, sources indicate that Liverpool are financially capable of meeting the demand.
Arsenal were also interested in Barcola as a potential upgrade to Leandro Trossard, who recently completed a €20 million move to Besiktas. Sporting director Andrea Berta was reportedly working on deals for both Barcola and Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers simultaneously, as a means of ensuring they secured at least one new winger. However, Fabrizio Romano and The Athletic have both reported that Rogers is Arsenal’s primary target.
Romano stated on his YouTube channel that while Arsenal have an interest in Barcola, “their number one option remains Morgan Rogers.” The Athletic also confirmed that Rogers is the Gunners’ priority, and that Villa could be open to a sale if a significant offer is received. This shift in focus significantly improves Liverpool’s chances of securing Barcola, who made 30 appearances for PSG across all competitions last season, scoring 5 goals.
With Arsenal seemingly set to pursue Rogers, Liverpool now have a clearer path to negotiate with PSG for Barcola, potentially bolstering their attacking options ahead of the new Premier League season.
