Newcastle United have completed the signing of winger Bazoumana Touré from Bundesliga club Hoffenheim, the club confirmed on Sunday. The 20-year-old Ivorian international has signed a five-year contract with the Magpies, keeping him at St. James’ Park until 2031, for a reported fee of €50 million.
Touré arrives at Newcastle following a breakout season with Hoffenheim, where he registered five goals and nine assists in 32 appearances across all competitions. His performances helped Hoffenheim secure a fifth-place finish in the Bundesliga and qualification for the Europa League. He also featured for the Ivory Coast national team at the recent World Cup, earning nine caps and scoring twice.
The transfer represents a club-record sale for Hoffenheim, surpassing the €43.5 million received from Newcastle for Joelinton in 2019. Newcastle have been active in the transfer window following the departure of Anthony Gordon to Barcelona for a fee of €80 million, and Touré is expected to fill the void left by the Englishman on the left wing. Lewis Hall currently occupies the left-back position, having made 46 appearances for the club last season.
Touré becomes Newcastle’s second signing of the summer, following the arrival of Ewen Jaouen from Reims for a fee of €28.5 million. The addition of the young Ivorian wideman provides manager Eddie Howe with increased attacking options and depth ahead of the new Premier League campaign. Newcastle will hope Touré can replicate his impressive form from the Bundesliga and quickly adapt to the demands of the Premier League.
