Liverpool have renewed their interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers attacker Mateus Mane, according to Fussball Daten. The 18-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough season in the Premier League despite Wolves’ relegation to the Championship, featuring prominently as a winger or attacking midfielder.
This comes after Liverpool’s initial target, Yan Diomande, indicated a preference for a move to Paris Saint-Germain, prompting the Merseyside club to explore alternative options. Mane, currently under contract with Wolves until 2029, is now considered a viable target, with a potential bid in the region of £35 million potentially proving tempting for the newly relegated club.
Mane scored three goals and provided two assists in the Premier League last season, showcasing his potential despite Wolves’ struggles. While a talented player, questions remain as to whether he is immediately ready to replace the output of Mohamed Salah, should the Egyptian depart Anfield.
Competition for Mane’s signature is expected to be fierce, with Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt also reportedly interested. Scouts from Manchester United, Arsenal, and Newcastle United have all monitored the player’s progress, but none have yet submitted formal offers.
In addition to Mane, Liverpool are also reportedly showing “strong interest” in Japan international Kaishu Sano, who impressed at the recent World Cup with a goal against Brazil. German source Bulinews, citing Nikkan Sports, reports that the Reds are one of four clubs – alongside Manchester United, Arsenal, and Borussia Dortmund – tracking the 25-year-old Mainz midfielder, who could cost between €50-60 million. Liverpool have also made fresh contact with Bradley Barcola’s camp, with the PSG winger expected to be available this summer.
These moves signal Liverpool’s intent to strengthen their attacking options ahead of next season, as they prepare for potential departures and seek to maintain their competitiveness in the Premier League and European competitions.
