Napoli midfielder Stanislav Lobotka is expected to sign a contract extension with the club, keeping him in Naples until at least 2028, according to reports in Italy. While his current deal expires in 2027, Napoli hold an option to extend the agreement by a further year, which the club intends to activate before negotiating a longer-term renewal.
The change in management to Massimiliano Allegri has been a key factor in Lobotka’s decision, reversing previous considerations of a departure. Two years ago, the potential arrival of Antonio Conte had similarly prompted the Slovakian international to reconsider his future, but it was Conte’s tactical demands that ultimately proved less appealing. Allegri, however, is expected to build his midfield around Lobotka, recognizing his importance to the team’s success.
Lobotka arrived at Napoli in January 2020 and initially struggled to adapt to life in Italy, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. He has since become a pivotal figure, winning two Serie A titles, a Coppa Italia, and a Supercoppa under Luciano Spalletti. He has also frequently captained the side, a role he greatly appreciates. Despite a reported release clause of €25 million, valid only for foreign clubs during the first two weeks of July, the player now appears committed to remaining with Napoli.
The 32-year-old’s influence extends beyond statistics, providing crucial tactical intelligence and control in midfield. While the future of André-Frank Anguissa, whose contract also expires in 2027, remains uncertain, Napoli are determined to retain Lobotka’s services, viewing him as indispensable to their ambitions of remaining at the top of Serie A. Lobotka and his partner, Simona Leskovska, have also expressed their fondness for the city of Naples, further solidifying his commitment to the club.
