Manchester United have dismissed suggestions that Amad Diallo could leave Old Trafford this summer, according to a report by TEAMtalk. The 23-year-old winger has been linked with a potential move to clubs like Sunderland following a season where he has struggled to consistently impact the team.
Diallo has not registered a goal or assist since December and has contributed just four goal involvements in 30 Premier League appearances this season. This downturn in form led to speculation about his future at the club, particularly with United potentially looking to reshape their attacking options.
However, the club now views Diallo as a ‘major’ long-term asset and considers him ‘untouchable’ unless an unforeseen circumstance arises. United staff reportedly believe he is one of the club’s ‘most exciting attacking talents’ and expect to build their attack around him in the coming seasons.
Much of this shift in perspective is attributed to the impact of manager Michael Carrick, who took charge in January. Carrick has moved Diallo from a wing-back role, previously utilized under Ruben Amorim, to a more advanced attacking position. Club staff have noted a positive influence on Diallo’s consistency and overall impact on matches as a result.
Diallo himself is said to be pleased with Carrick’s management style and system, and the manager is impressed with the player’s intelligence, work rate, and versatility in attack. United demonstrated their faith in the Ivorian international last year by awarding him a new five-year contract, signaling their long-term commitment to his development.
While United are expected to pursue additional attacking reinforcements this summer, Joshua Zirkzee is the player most likely to be sold, further solidifying Diallo’s position within the squad. The club believes Diallo still has significant potential for growth and intends to integrate him into their future plans.
