Manchester United have expressed interest in Inter Milan left-back Carlos Augusto and are in discussions regarding a potential £40 million move for Fulham midfielder Sander Berge, according to recent reports. The club has already completed the signings of Andrey Santos, Karl Darlow, and Youri Tielemans this summer as they rebuild their squad ahead of their return to Champions League football.
United initially made contact with Inter in April regarding Augusto, a four-time Brazil international, as they seek competition and cover for first-choice left-back Luke Shaw. The 25-year-old is currently backup to Federico Dimarco at Inter and is reportedly available for a fee between €25-30 million (£21-25 million). However, journalist Ben Jacobs reports that Lewis Hall of Newcastle United remains United’s primary target in that position, with INEOS determined to secure a £60 million deal.
Alongside the pursuit of a left-back, United are also looking to add a third midfielder to their ranks. Sander Berge, who impressed in the Premier League with Fulham last season, has emerged as a strong candidate. Club officials are actively discussing a potential move for the 28-year-old Norwegian, having made fresh contact in recent days. Other midfield options under consideration include Manu Kone, Felix Nmecha, and Ayyoub Bouaddi, although Bouaddi is reportedly attracting interest from Manchester City.
Another midfielder previously linked with a move to Old Trafford, Eduardo Camavinga of Real Madrid, appears unlikely to join. Fabrizio Romano reports that Camavinga is committed to fighting for his place at Real Madrid and has not given any indication he would be open to a transfer. Unless the player changes his stance, United will not pursue official negotiations with the Spanish club. The focus remains on strengthening in midfield and at left-back before the start of the new season.
