Manchester United are focusing their attention on Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers as a summer transfer target, with a move for Chelsea’s Cole Palmer appearing less likely, according to reports. This comes as United are also heavily linked with RB Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba and are preparing for the departure of Casemiro.
Sources indicate that United have already begun discussions with representatives for Lukeba, aiming to secure the centre-back ahead of interest from Bayern Munich and Manchester City. The 21-year-old’s contract with Leipzig includes an €80 million release clause, though the Bundesliga club may be willing to negotiate a slightly lower fee. United are viewing Lukeba as a primary target to strengthen their defensive options at Old Trafford.
While Palmer had been a player of interest, transfer expert Jacobs told The United Stand that United are hesitant due to his positional preference. Palmer primarily plays as a number ten and the club has already invested in players like Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo for that role. Rogers, however, offers more versatility, being comfortable as a winger or in a central position, providing a long-term solution when Bruno Fernandes eventually departs.
Casemiro has confirmed he will leave Manchester United when his contract expires this summer, stating he wants to depart “on top” after four years with the club. Speaking to ESPN, the Brazilian midfielder dismissed any possibility of extending his stay, expressing gratitude to the fans and the club. United are now expected to seek a replacement for the experienced midfielder during the transfer window.
United are also monitoring Lyon winger Afonso Moreira, who joined the French club last summer for €2 million. The 21-year-old has impressed in Ligue 1 and is attracting interest from several clubs, including those in Serie A and the Bundesliga, as United prepare for potential departures of Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford.
