Chelsea are prepared to sell winger Alejandro Garnacho after just one season at Stamford Bridge, potentially netting Manchester United between £4.26 million and £4.5 million through a sell-on clause. The Blues signed Garnacho from United last summer for a reported £40 million, a deal which included the 10 percent sell-on clause that now stands to benefit the Red Devils.
Garnacho’s time at Chelsea has been underwhelming, leading the club to seek a permanent exit for the 22-year-old. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are requesting £45 million from any Premier League clubs interested in Garnacho, which would result in a £4.5 million payment to Manchester United. For clubs outside of England, the asking price is set at €50 million (£42.6 million at current exchange rates), yielding United £4.26 million.
Manchester United’s decision to include a sell-on clause demonstrates foresight in the transfer agreement, recognizing the potential for financial gain should Garnacho fail to establish himself at Chelsea. The winger had pushed for the move to Chelsea, making the inclusion of such a clause particularly shrewd from United’s perspective.
Interest in Garnacho is emerging from Serie A, with Napoli and Roma both identified as potential destinations. Napoli previously attempted to sign Garnacho while he was still at Manchester United. Roma are reportedly interested in a loan deal, but Chelsea are insistent on a permanent transfer. The Saudi Pro League has also been mentioned as a possible destination, and Garnacho is understood to be open to a move to the Middle East. This sale allows Chelsea to recoup a significant portion of their initial investment and reshape their attacking options, while Manchester United profit from a deal that didn't initially appear to offer further financial benefit.
