Roma defender Gianluca Mancini has signed a contract extension with the club, committing his future to the Serie A side until 2029, the club confirmed on Tuesday. The 27-year-old centre-back’s renewal comes as Roma continue their preparations for the upcoming season under manager Daniele De Rossi.
Mancini joined Roma from Atalanta in 2019, initially on loan before making the move permanent. He has since become a key figure in the team’s defence, making over 170 appearances in all competitions. Last season, Mancini featured prominently, playing a vital role as Roma secured European qualification. He has also earned international caps for Italy, representing his country at major tournaments.
The defender publicly announced the renewal via an Instagram post, expressing his deep connection to the club and its supporters. Mancini described the colours of Roma as “beyond everything,” stating they are “in my heart and veins from the first day.” He also highlighted the unique atmosphere created by the club’s fanbase and the strong sense of family within the team and at the club’s training ground, Trigoria.
Roma are also actively pursuing other transfer targets this summer, with winger Jessic Ngoma Summerville of Feyenoord reportedly close to joining. Negotiations with the Dutch club are ongoing, according to reports, as Roma look to bolster their attacking options. The club has also been linked with interest in players such as Philogene and Koné, though progress on those deals appears less advanced.
Mancini’s contract extension provides stability to the Roma defence and signals a long-term commitment from a key player.
