Aïssa Mandi has signed for Spanish La Liga side Levante on a free transfer, the club confirmed on Thursday. The Algerian international has agreed to a contract with Levante that will run until 2028, following his departure from French club Lille. Mandi arrives at Levante without a transfer fee after his contract with Lille expired.
Mandi was voted Lille’s player of the season by supporters for the 2025-2026 campaign, demonstrating his impact during his time with the club. Prior to joining Lille, the defender spent several years in Spain with both Real Betis and Villarreal, establishing himself as a familiar face in La Liga. His move to Levante represents a return to a league he knows well.
The 32-year-old boasts significant experience in Spanish football, having featured in 206 La Liga matches throughout his career. He is the most capped player in the history of the Algerian national team, with 122 appearances for his country. This wealth of experience will be a valuable asset for Levante as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Levante have been active in the transfer window, with Mandi becoming their second signing of the summer after Enzo Bardeli, who previously played for Dunkerque in France. Mandi will work under the management of Luis Castro at Levante, aiming to solidify the club’s defence and contribute to a positive campaign. The arrival of a proven La Liga defender in Mandi will likely strengthen Levante’s backline as they look to improve their league position.
