Kylian Mbappe is reportedly trying to persuade France teammate Michael Olise to join him at Real Madrid this summer, according to reports from Spanish media outlet El Chiringuito TV, as cited by Madrid Universal. This comes despite Bayern Munich’s firm stance that the winger is not for sale.
Both Mbappe and Olise have been key players for France during the current World Cup, contributing significantly to their recent 3-0 victory over Sweden with two goals and two assists respectively. Olise’s strong performances follow a successful first two seasons with Bayern Munich after completing a €60million transfer from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024.
Interest in the 24-year-old Olise has been widespread, with clubs including Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Paris Saint-Germain all linked with a move. The reports suggest that Mbappe is actively attempting to convince Olise to choose the Spanish capital, a development that has reportedly caused some concern at Bayern Munich.
Some sources have indicated that Real Madrid would be willing to spend as much as €200million for Olise, which would represent a club record fee. Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, is known to be a strong admirer of the player, and the club has demonstrated a willingness to invest heavily in new signings this summer, previously making a €150million bid for Julian Alvarez.
However, Bayern Munich officials have repeatedly stated their intention to retain Olise. TEAMtalk transfer insider Graeme Bailey reported in May that the club has “absolutely zero intention” of letting him leave, a sentiment echoed by Bayern president Herbert Hainer. Hainer recently stated, via Marca, that any offer from Real Madrid would be rejected, emphasizing that Olise is a key player with a long-term contract.
While Bayern are currently resolute, they acknowledge that Olise’s future could be reconsidered if he does not sign a contract extension, with his current deal set to expire in 2029. Olise has been prolific for Bayern, scoring 42 goals and providing 54 assists in 107 appearances, establishing himself as one of the world’s top attackers. A potential link-up between Mbappe and Olise at Real Madrid is an enticing prospect, but currently appears unlikely in the short term, with both players focused on the World Cup.
