AC Milan are on the verge of completing a deal for Lazio defender Mario Gila, with negotiations entering their final stages. According to reports in Italy, Milan are prepared to offer €22 million plus bonuses, while Lazio are holding out for €25 million to reach a total of €30 million. An agreement is expected as early as tomorrow.
The pursuit of Gila is being driven by new Milan manager Ruben Amorim, who signed his contract in mid-June while on holiday in Ibiza. Amorim has been actively involved in shaping the squad, consulting with owner Gerry Cardinale and identifying targets to strengthen the team. He has already overseen the arrival of Gonçalo Ramos for a club-record fee of around €70 million and identified Gila as a key reinforcement for the defense.
Gila, a 2006-born defender who came through the Real Madrid academy, has been on Milan’s radar previously, even attracting interest from former manager Massimiliano Allegri. However, Milan are now poised to beat competition from Napoli, the club Allegri now manages, to secure his signature. The player has already agreed personal terms with Milan, including a net salary of €5 million per year, and his agent, Alejandro Camaño, is working to finalize the transfer.
Alongside the Gila deal, Milan are also monitoring Victor Valdepeñas, a 2006-born defender currently at Real Madrid. Valdepeñas, who debuted for Real Madrid’s first team in December, is represented by the same agency as Gila and could be a future target for the Rossoneri. However, the immediate priority remains completing the acquisition of Gila, with the club keen to avoid interest from other Serie A sides like Atalanta. The arrival of Gila signals an ambitious summer for Milan as Amorim and Cardinale continue to build a new project at the San Siro.
