AC Milan are considering a move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Gonçalo Ramos as new manager Rúben Amorim assesses options to revamp the team’s attack, according to reports in Italy. The Rossoneri struggled for goals last season, with no striker reaching double figures in Serie A, prompting the search for a reliable goalscorer.
Rafael Leão was occasionally deployed as a central striker by previous manager Stefano Pioli, but this proved largely unsuccessful, and the club also missed out on signing Jean-Philippe Mateta earlier in the season due to concerns over a knee injury. Mateta, who recently helped Crystal Palace qualify for the Conference League, is again a potential target following the appointment of Oliver Glasner, his former manager at Palace.
Ramos, who turned 25 on Saturday, joined PSG from Benfica in 2023 for a fee of €65 million plus €15 million in add-ons, but has found his opportunities limited in the French capital. While he has scored 12 goals in 45 appearances for PSG, he has rarely been a consistent starter, particularly in the Champions League, starting only 13 Ligue 1 matches from the beginning.
The Portuguese international is seeking a club where he can be a central figure in the team’s plans, and Milan, facilitated by super-agent Jorge Mendes, could offer that opportunity. Mendes has a strong relationship with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, which could aid negotiations. Milan’s appointment of Amorim has also given them a degree of leverage, with Mendes reportedly offering a ‘moral pre-emption’ on players from his Gestifute agency.
Another player linked with a move to Milan through Mendes is Darwin Núñez, currently playing for Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia. Núñez has scored 9 goals in 24 appearances for Al-Hilal, but struggled for playing time following the arrival of Karim Benzema in January. He is reportedly keen on a return to European football, with Liverpool also mentioned as a potential destination. However, any move to Milan for Núñez would likely require a significant reduction in his current salary. Ramos’s arrival could provide Milan with a much-needed attacking focal point and potentially a valuable asset for future player trading.
