Juventus striker Arkadiusz Milik has opened up about a difficult period in his career, detailing struggles with injury and a subsequent emotional breakdown during an interview with Kanal Sportowy. The Poland international described a period between January and April of this year where he found himself crying during training sessions, ultimately leading him to seek help from a psychologist.
Milik explained that the constant cycle of injuries had taken a significant toll on his mental wellbeing. He recounted instances of having to leave training to privately cope with overwhelming emotions, admitting that he initially hesitated to seek professional help, questioning his ability to manage the situation independently. He ultimately realized he needed support to navigate the challenges he was facing.
The forward also reflected on his future, acknowledging that discussions are ongoing regarding a potential move to Gornik Zabrze, the club where his brother currently plays, but stating it is too early to confirm anything. He spoke highly of former teammates, singling out Robert Lewandowski for his longevity, and praising the skill and determination of Angel Di Maria and Paul Pogba.
Milik shared a specific anecdote about Pogba, recalling how the midfielder continued to perform at a high level despite persistent knee issues, often playing with a swollen joint. Pogba reportedly told Milik that while they were all professionals, Cristiano Ronaldo operated on another level entirely. The experience has led Milik to a significant realization about priorities, stating that “money doesn’t buy happiness,” even after earning a substantial income while feeling unfulfilled.
The 29-year-old joined Juventus in 2022 from Marseille, initially on loan before making the move permanent. He has struggled with consistent playing time and injuries during his spell in Turin, scoring 14 goals in 63 appearances across all competitions. The club are currently in a period of transition, and Milik's candid discussion about his mental health may influence future decisions regarding his role within the squad.
