Bayern Munich have been urged to consider a move for SC Freiburg midfielder Johan Manzambi, according to comments made by former Bayern star Thomas Müller following Switzerland’s 4-1 victory over Bosnia & Herzegovina.
Müller, speaking on Magenta TV, highlighted Manzambi’s versatility as a key attribute, suggesting the 20-year-old could fill multiple roles within the Bayern squad.
“Manzambi is a good player overall,” Müller stated. “For me, he's someone that FC Bayern should take a close look at.” He further elaborated on Manzambi’s positional flexibility, noting his ability to play as a number 6, 8, or 10, while also possessing the attributes to feature as a striker.
Manzambi has been linked with a potential departure from Freiburg this summer, with the player himself acknowledging uncertainty surrounding his future in May. This admission fuels speculation that he could be open to a transfer.
Currently, Bayern are reportedly nearing the completion of a deal for Ismael Saibari, which could influence their pursuit of Manzambi. However, Serie A side SSC Napoli have also expressed strong interest in the young midfielder, presenting potential competition for his signature.
Manzambi has quickly established himself as a promising talent in the Bundesliga with Freiburg, demonstrating a dynamic skillset and tactical awareness beyond his years. He has become a regular in the Freiburg starting eleven, contributing both defensively and offensively.
Should Bayern pursue Manzambi, it would likely be with a view to bolstering their midfield options ahead of the 2026-27 season, as suggested by Müller. The addition of a versatile player like Manzambi could provide valuable depth and tactical flexibility for the Bavarian giants.
