Alexander Nübel is poised to leave Bayern Munich and join Turkish Süper Lig side Beşiktaş in a permanent transfer, according to reports from Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu. An agreement between the two clubs has reportedly been reached, with Beşiktaş set to pay an initial €5million fee, potentially rising to €10million with additional payments.
The 29-year-old goalkeeper will become Beşiktaş’s first-choice option between the posts, having agreed personal terms with the Istanbul-based club. Nübel’s departure represents a significant step in his career, as he seeks regular playing time after limited opportunities at Bayern Munich.
Nübel initially joined Bayern in 2020 from Schalke 04, but has largely been used as a backup option. He spent the past three seasons on loan at VfB Stuttgart, where he established himself as a consistent performer in the Bundesliga. Bayern had initially hoped to receive a fee of up to €20million for the German international, reflecting his potential and previous performances.
However, the club has seemingly accepted a lower offer, prioritizing the removal of Nübel’s salary from their wage bill. Bayern will save on the Paderborn native’s wages, which were becoming a considerable expense given his limited role within the squad. The move allows Nübel to secure a prominent role in a competitive league, while Bayern can reinvest resources elsewhere.
The transfer provides Beşiktaş with an experienced goalkeeper to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming season. Nübel’s arrival will likely solidify their position as contenders in the Turkish Süper Lig, offering stability and quality in a crucial position. His experience in the Bundesliga should also prove valuable as he adapts to a new league and environment.
