Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Diant Ramaj is seeking a permanent transfer away from Signal Iduna Park this summer, according to reports in Germany. The 24-year-old is reportedly prioritizing a move to a club where he can establish himself as the first-choice goalkeeper.
Ramaj spent the 2023-24 season on loan at 1. FC Heidenheim, making 30 appearances in the Bundesliga for the newly promoted side. His performances for Heidenheim demonstrated his desire for regular playing time, something currently unavailable to him at Dortmund. Bild newspaper first reported Ramaj’s intention to leave.
Dortmund signed Ramaj from Ajax in February 2025 for a reported fee of €5 million, but the Switzerland international has yet to make a competitive appearance for the Black and Yellows. He has previously spent time on loan at FC Copenhagen, further indicating his difficulty in breaking into the first-team picture. The presence of Gregor Kobel as Dortmund’s established number one has limited opportunities for Ramaj.
The club are reportedly willing to let Ramaj depart for a fee in the region of €7 million. This would represent a modest profit for Dortmund, given the initial investment made to secure his services. Several Bundesliga clubs are monitoring the situation, though no concrete offers have been made at this stage.
Ramaj’s desire for consistent first-team football is understandable given his age and potential. He has shown promise during his loan spells, and a permanent move could allow him to fully develop his capabilities. Dortmund, meanwhile, may view the sale as a sensible move to recoup funds and streamline their squad, focusing on players who fit directly into their immediate plans. This move could allow Ramaj to solidify his position as a starting goalkeeper and continue his development.
