Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford could move to Barcelona later in the summer transfer window, but only if Brazilian winger Raphinha leaves the club, according to reports in the Spanish media. Rashford recently completed a loan spell at Barcelona, which the Catalan club opted not to make permanent, triggering his return to Old Trafford.
Despite being part of the England squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup, Rashford’s future at Manchester United remains uncertain. TEAMtalk’s Fraser Fletcher reported that Rashford is still keen on a move to Barcelona, and the Spanish champions are reportedly receptive to the idea, even after securing the transfer of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.
Barcelona are reportedly prepared to wait until the end of the transfer window to potentially secure a deal for Rashford, ideally on another loan, though Manchester United would prefer a permanent sale. The possibility of Rashford returning to the Camp Nou is contingent on the future of Raphinha, who has attracted interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia. Sport reports that should Raphinha depart, Rashford could fill the void in the Barcelona attack.
Manchester United had been actively seeking to sell Rashford, with a release clause of £40million in his contract, excluding potential moves to rivals Liverpool and Manchester City. However, the arrival of Michael Carrick as manager has shifted the club’s stance, with the club now open to reintegrating the 28-year-old into the squad.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have made direct contact with Rashford’s representatives, expressing their willingness to welcome him back for pre-season training. Rashford, in turn, has not ruled out the possibility of returning to the club. While a permanent departure is not off the table, Manchester United are prepared to offer Rashford a chance to compete for a place in the team, with his contract running until 2028. The situation remains fluid, and Rashford’s future will likely depend on developments surrounding Raphinha and any potential offers from other clubs.
