Thierry Tazemeta has completed a permanent transfer from Borussia Dortmund to 1.FC Kaiserslautern, the 2. Bundesliga club confirmed on Tuesday. The 18-year-old attacker joins Kaiserslautern ahead of the upcoming season, seeking more regular first-team opportunities. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed by either club.
Tazemeta progressed through the youth ranks at Dortmund, becoming a key figure for their U-19 team last season. He made 27 appearances across all competitions for the youth side, directly contributing to 24 goals with an impressive return of 15 goals and 9 assists. The Austrian youth international is known for his versatility, being capable of playing in any of the three forward positions.
Kaiserslautern sporting director Marcel Klos lauded Tazemeta’s arrival, describing him as a “top international talent.” Klos highlighted the player’s technical ability, physicality, speed, and intelligent movement off the ball, emphasizing his versatility as a significant asset to the team. The club clearly sees Tazemeta as a player who can contribute immediately to their attacking options.
Tazemeta himself expressed his excitement about joining a club with such a rich history. He stated that the opportunity to play for Kaiserslautern was one he couldn’t refuse, citing the club’s tradition and the confidence shown in him by the management during positive discussions. He will be hoping to establish himself as a key player in the Kaiserslautern attack.
Kaiserslautern finished 18th in the 2. Bundesliga last season, narrowly avoiding relegation. The addition of Tazemeta represents a clear attempt to bolster their attacking options and provide a spark to their forward line as they aim for a more comfortable campaign next season. The move allows Tazemeta to test himself in professional football, potentially accelerating his development as a promising young talent.
