Malta international Teddy Teuma will depart Standard Liège when his contract expires at the end of June, the player announced via an Instagram story on Thursday. The 32-year-old midfielder arrived at the Belgian club in January but has struggled for consistent playing time due to a thigh injury.
Teuma expressed his gratitude to the club and its supporters in his message, stating he was proud to have worn the colours of Standard Liège and that he would always consider himself one of their own. He acknowledged that his time at the club was brief, preventing a deeper connection, but appreciated the warmth of the welcome he received.
During his five months with Standard Liège, Teuma made nine appearances, totaling 371 minutes on the pitch. Prior to joining the Belgian side, he had a spell with Stade de Reims in France, and has earned 50 caps for the Maltese national team. He was born in Toulon, France.
The midfielder is now seeking a new club and will be available on a free transfer. While his time at Standard Liège was hampered by injury, Teuma will be hoping to find a club where he can showcase his abilities and contribute more regularly. The move allows Standard Liège to free up space in their squad and potentially pursue other targets during the transfer window.
