Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to make a significant investment to sign Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford, according to reports from TEAMtalk. The north London club are reportedly willing to match Rashford’s substantial wage demands of £325,000-a-week.
Rashford recently completed a loan spell with Barcelona, where he impressed, scoring 14 goals and providing 14 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions, and helping the club win LaLiga. However, Barcelona have decided against triggering the £26million buy-out clause in the loan agreement, leaving Rashford set to return to Manchester United for pre-season following his participation in the 2026 World Cup with England.
Tottenham view Rashford as a potential addition to their squad, and The i Paper reports that the club are planning to submit a bid for the player imminently. A release clause of £40million exists in Rashford’s contract with Manchester United, though it excludes potential bids from Liverpool and Manchester City. Tottenham are therefore able to trigger the clause should they choose to do so.
Despite the potentially bargain fee for a Premier League-proven player, Rashford’s high wages could prove a stumbling block for many clubs. However, sources indicate that Tottenham are undeterred and prepared to meet his financial expectations. TEAMtalk’s Fraser Fletcher reports that Rashford himself ‘remains extremely keen’ on a return to Barcelona, but the Catalan club are hesitant to meet United’s £40million valuation, preferring a deal closer to £25-30million with an obligation to buy next summer.
While Rashford’s future remains uncertain, Tottenham’s willingness to invest both financially and in terms of wages positions them as a serious contender for his signature. Securing Rashford would provide a significant boost to Tottenham’s attacking options, while potentially allowing Manchester United to recoup a substantial fee for a player whose long-term future at the club appears unclear.
