French youth international Mathys Detourbet has completed a move from ESTAC Troyes to Manchester City, the Ligue 2 club announced on Saturday. The 19-year-old winger departs Troyes after eleven years with the club, having joined their academy at the age of eight.
Detourbet progressed through all levels of Troyes’ youth system before making his professional debut for his boyhood club. This past season, he registered three goals and five assists, establishing himself as a promising talent emerging from the ESTAC academy. He was a member of the Troyes squad that secured the Ligue 2 title at the end of the 2025-2026 season.
He has also earned three caps for the French under-21 national team, demonstrating his potential on the international stage. While details regarding the transfer fee have not been disclosed, the move represents a significant step up in Detourbet’s career.
According to reports, Detourbet is not expected to immediately join Manchester City’s first team and may be loaned out to their partner club, Girona, to gain further playing experience. This strategy is common within the City Group, allowing young players to develop in a competitive environment before potentially integrating into the senior squad. Manchester City have been active in the transfer market, with several departures already confirmed.
The acquisition of Detourbet adds another promising young player to Manchester City’s ranks, bolstering their attacking options for the future. The move provides Detourbet with the opportunity to learn from some of the best players in the world and compete at the highest level of English football.
