Arsenal are progressing towards the signing of Club Brugge forward Christos Tzolis, with the player reportedly indicating a strong preference for a move to the Emirates Stadium. According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Tzolis has turned down approaches from other clubs to pursue a transfer to Mikel Arteta’s side.
BBC Sport initially reported on Tuesday that Arsenal were preparing to move for the 24-year-old, viewing him as a potential replacement for Leandro Trossard following the Belgian’s €20million (£17m) transfer to Besiktas. Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta is said to be leading the pursuit, with Club Brugge valuing Tzolis at around €35m (£30m).
Tzolis joined Brugge from Norwich City in 2024 and has since established himself as a key player, scoring 43 goals in 108 appearances for the Belgian club. Last season alone, the Greek international contributed 17 goals and 23 assists as Brugge secured a Pro League and Super Cup double. His recent form has clearly attracted attention from multiple clubs, but his desire appears firmly set on joining Arsenal.
Despite the strong interest in Tzolis, BBC Sport reports that Arsenal are still aiming to add a high-profile forward to their squad this summer. Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa remains a primary target, although The Telegraph suggests Villa are seeking a fee of €152m (£130m), which may prove too expensive. The Gunners also retain an interest in Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola.
Arsenal have already completed one signing this summer with the arrival of goalkeeper Illan Meslier on a free transfer from Leeds United. The 26-year-old will provide competition for David Raya. Outgoings have also been confirmed, with Jakub Kiwior and Karl Hein joining Porto and Werder Bremen respectively, alongside Trossard’s move to Besiktas, which was officially announced by the club on Tuesday. Trossard scored 36 goals in 174 appearances for Arsenal after joining from Brighton in January 2023 and played a crucial role in their Premier League title win, scoring the decisive goal against West Ham United in May.
