Germany international Deniz Undav has agreed to a two-year contract extension with VfB Stuttgart, according to reports from Sky Sports and Bild. The agreement, reached prior to Undav’s departure for the 2026 World Cup, extends his stay with the club beyond his previous deal which was set to expire in 2027.
Undav’s salary is expected to increase from €4.5 million to up to €6 million annually, with a one-time signing bonus in the low seven-figure range also included in the new contract. The early extension provides both Undav and Stuttgart with long-term security, a stated objective of the player in recent statements.
Undav initially joined Stuttgart on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2023, with the club subsequently exercising a purchase option. Brighton retained a buyback clause, but after negotiations, Undav completed a permanent transfer to Stuttgart. His arrival coincided with a period of significant success for the club.
Since joining Stuttgart, Undav has been central to their sporting achievements, winning the DFB-Pokal in 2025 and reaching the final again this year. He also played a key role in the club’s return to the Champions League, securing qualification for the upcoming season.
In the recently concluded 2025/2026 Bundesliga season, Undav finished as the league’s second-highest goalscorer with 19 goals, trailing only Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane. He has also established himself as a leader within the Stuttgart squad, captaining the team on multiple occasions in the absence of Atakan Karazor. Undav’s positive attitude and approachable demeanor have made him a firm favourite among the club's supporters. This extension solidifies Stuttgart’s attacking options and provides continuity as they prepare for another Champions League campaign.
