Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Luka Vuskovic has informed the club of his desire to leave following the agreement of a £52million deal for Brighton’s Jan Paul van Hecke, according to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook. The 19-year-old has spent the last year on loan, most recently with Hamburg in the Bundesliga, where he was voted the third-best player in the league during the 2025/26 season.
Vuskovic joined Tottenham in 2023 but is yet to make a competitive appearance for the first team, having been loaned out to Radomiak Radom, Westerlo, and Hamburg. His impressive performances in Germany have attracted interest from several European clubs, and Brighton have already seen two bids rejected, the most recent believed to be around £35million.
Tottenham officials reportedly prefer another loan spell for Vuskovic, recognizing his potential, but it is unclear if Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi shares that view. The arrival of Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi on free transfers, coupled with the imminent signing of Van Hecke, significantly reduces Vuskovic’s chances of first-team football at Spurs in the 2026/27 season.
Sources indicate discussions between Tottenham and Brighton regarding Van Hecke are ongoing and progressing well, with a full agreement anticipated. Vuskovic’s potential departure could free up space in the squad and provide funds for further recruitment, though the club values the player highly. He is currently with the Croatia squad preparing for their World Cup opener against England, potentially showcasing his talent on a global stage.
