Everton are prepared to listen to offers for right-back Nathan Patterson this summer, with several clubs reportedly monitoring his situation, according to TEAMtalk. The 24-year-old, who joined the Toffees from Rangers in a deal worth around £12million in 2022, has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter despite Everton’s need for cover in that position.
Since the beginning of 2024, Jake O’Brien, a centre-back by trade, has often been deployed at right-back for Everton, following injuries to Seamus Coleman and the veteran’s gradual phasing out of the team. Patterson made just seven Premier League appearances this past season, starting only three matches under manager David Moyes. Sources indicate that the player is seeking a new challenge, and Everton will allow him to leave if a suitable replacement is secured.
Patterson was previously close to moves to Sevilla last summer and Genoa in January, but both transfers fell through as Everton were unable to bring in a replacement in time. His former club, Rangers, are among those potentially interested, particularly if they fail to secure Westerlo right-back Bryan Reynolds. A strong showing for Scotland at the upcoming World Cup could also attract further suitors for Patterson.
Everton have already identified five potential replacements for Patterson. West Ham’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka is a key target, with talks already held between the clubs, and the Toffees could potentially sign the 28-year-old for around £15million following West Ham’s relegation. Strasbourg’s Guela Doue, brother of Paris Saint-Germain’s Desire Doue, is also on Everton’s radar, having been monitored for the past 12 months. The 23-year-old is highly regarded in Ligue 1 as an attacking full-back and can also play in multiple positions, but his ownership by BlueCo, who also own Chelsea, could lead to a high asking price.
Additionally, Everton are considering Arsenal’s Ben White, though the Gunners have yet to decide whether to sell, and Atalanta’s Raoul Bellanova. They may also revisit their interest in Sevilla’s Juanlu Sanchez, who was a target last summer. The club’s priority remains securing a replacement before sanctioning Patterson’s departure.
