Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly joined the pursuit of Barcelona forward Ferran Torres, according to a report from Caught Offside. The north London club, under new manager Roberto De Zerbi, are seeking to bolster their attacking options ahead of the upcoming season and see Torres as a potential solution.
Spurs have been active in the transfer window, focusing initially on strengthening their defence with the arrivals of Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Jan Paul van Hecke. Significant investment, totaling £185 million, has also been made in the midfield with the signings of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes. The club is now turning its attention to improving a forward line that struggled for consistency last season, despite facing injury challenges.
Barcelona are reportedly willing to sell Torres for a fee of €35 million (£29 million) due to the player having only one year remaining on his current contract. The 26-year-old is capable of playing both as a central striker and on the wing, offering versatility to De Zerbi’s tactical plans. Throughout his club career, Torres has scored 91 goals and provided 44 assists in 359 appearances.
Torres previously played for Manchester City, where he scored 16 goals in 43 games across two seasons. He has also established himself as a regular for the Spain national team, earning 63 caps and scoring 24 goals. Former Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez was a known admirer of Torres, praising his understanding of space, link-up play, and defensive work, describing him as “world-class.”
Tottenham are also reportedly close to securing the signing of Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi, and the addition of Torres would further enhance their attacking options. The club is still considering other wing targets, including Savinho, Cody Gakpo, and Rafael Leao. The potential arrival of Torres could allow De Zerbi to field a more dynamic and potent attacking lineup, addressing a key area for improvement within the squad.
