Fiorentina have initiated formal negotiations with Wolverhampton Wanderers regarding a permanent transfer for Spanish left-back Hugo Bueno, according to sources at TEAMtalk. While an agreement has not yet been reached, discussions are currently underway, with the Italian club emerging as the first to make a concrete offer for the 23-year-old this summer.
Bueno is currently under contract with Wolves until 2028, having signed an extension in November 2023. However, following the club’s relegation and growing interest from several European and English clubs over the past year, Wolves are prepared to consider offers that meet their valuation. The club is believed to be seeking around £15million for the player, which is considered reasonable given his recent performances.
Bueno joined Wolves from CD Areosa in 2019, initially as an attacking midfielder before being converted to a left wing-back. He has steadily developed into a key player for the team, particularly impressing during a productive loan spell at Feyenoord in the 2024/25 season where he gained valuable European experience. He returned to Molineux and made 38 appearances across all competitions in the 2025/26 season, showcasing his attacking contributions and defensive capabilities despite Wolves’ struggles.
Fiorentina view Bueno as a significant addition to their squad, aiming to strengthen their left flank with his dynamism and versatility ahead of the new Serie A season. For Wolves, a sale would generate funds for squad rebuilding as they attempt to secure promotion back to the Premier League at the first opportunity. The transfer is still in its early stages, but it highlights Bueno’s increasing reputation within European football. A move to Italy could provide him with consistent first-team opportunities and a platform for further development.
