Nottingham Forest are preparing to firmly resist any offers for Morgan Gibbs-White, with eight clubs reportedly interested in the England midfielder, following the anticipated departure of Elliot Anderson. Sources have told TEAMtalk that the club is resolute in its determination to retain Gibbs-White, who is considered a key figure in manager Vitor Pereira’s squad.
This stance comes as Forest are bracing for a significant bid for Anderson, with previous offers exceeding £120 million already rejected. Owner Evangelos Marinakis is reportedly seeking a package worth €151 million ($174m) for Anderson, and his potential sale has only strengthened the club’s resolve to hold onto Gibbs-White. The 26-year-old is viewed as a cornerstone of Forest’s long-term project.
Gibbs-White currently earns £100,000 per week, the highest salary at the club, a testament to his importance. Since signing his new contract, his influence and authority within the team have grown, often captaining the side despite officially being vice-captain. Pereira and Marinakis are both adamant that he remains central to the club’s plans.
Despite Forest’s firm position, several high-profile clubs have expressed interest in Gibbs-White. Tottenham Hotspur retain their long-standing admiration, while Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Chelsea have also shown interest. European giants Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, and Atletico Madrid have also made enquiries, all of which have been rebuffed.
Forest’s valuation of Gibbs-White is expected to be at least equal to, and potentially higher than, the fee ultimately accepted for Anderson. Given Anderson’s transfer is expected to break British transfer records, this would place a considerable price tag on Gibbs-White. The club is not looking to dismantle Pereira’s squad and views Gibbs-White as a vital leader and performer, having contributed 25 goals and assists last season, totaling 71 goal contributions in 171 appearances for the club. His contract at the City Ground runs until 2028.
