Eintracht Frankfurt’s managing director for sport, Markus Krösche, has rejected an approach from AC Milan, according to Sky Germany. The 45-year-old held discussions with the Serie A club but has ultimately decided to remain with the Bundesliga side.
Reports in Italy had previously suggested an agreement was close between Krösche and Milan, however Sky Germany states that no such agreement ever existed. The news brings an end to speculation linking the German administrator with a move to Italy, where Milan are seeking to bolster their leadership structure following a period of transition.
Krösche arrived at Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2021, inheriting a squad that would go on to achieve Europa League success the following season. His tenure has been marked by shrewd recruitment and a focus on developing young talent, contributing to Frankfurt’s consistent performance in both domestic and European competitions. He previously held roles at RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen, gaining experience within the Red Bull football network.
Since joining Frankfurt, Krösche has overseen the signings of players such as Randal Kolo Muani and Omar Marmoush, both of whom have become key contributors to the team’s attacking play. He also played a significant role in securing the services of Aurelio Buta and Lucas Alario. Frankfurt’s ability to identify and integrate talent has been a hallmark of Krösche’s leadership.
Krösche is currently under contract with Eintracht Frankfurt until 2028, indicating the club’s long-term faith in his abilities. His decision to remain suggests a continued commitment to the project at the Deutsche Bank Park, and stability within the club’s sporting direction. This outcome allows Frankfurt to continue building on the foundations laid under his leadership, aiming for further success in the Bundesliga and European football.
Milan’s search for a new sporting director continues, with the club now turning their attention to alternative candidates. The Rossoneri are aiming to find an individual who can implement a clear strategy for player recruitment and development, as they look to compete with the top clubs in Serie A and beyond.
