Borussia Mönchengladbach have completed the signing of 16-year-old Swedish youth international Samin Mujevic from Malmö, the Bundesliga club confirmed. The defensive midfielder will initially join Gladbach’s U19 team with a view to future integration into the first team squad. The transfer, reported by Kicker, is valued between €300,000 and €400,000.
Mujevic has represented Sweden at the U17 level, scoring two goals in seven appearances for the national team. He arrives at Mönchengladbach having signed a long-term contract, indicating the club’s faith in his potential. The move represents an early step in his professional career, leaving his native Sweden to develop within a established European league.
Mirko Sandmöller, Gladbach’s director of junior performance center, expressed the club’s satisfaction with the acquisition. “We are very pleased that Samin Mujevic has chosen our path and that we can accompany him specifically in the further development of his skills,” he stated. The club clearly intends to nurture Mujevic’s talent within their youth system before potentially promoting him to the senior team.
Rouven Schröder, Head of Sports at Borussia Mönchengladbach, highlighted the increasing competition for young talent across Europe. “More clubs are trying to discover promising young players early on,” Schröder explained. “It speaks to our good scouting and the attraction of the club that he has chosen us.” This suggests Mönchengladbach are actively working to identify and secure promising players before they attract attention from larger clubs.
Mujevic himself acknowledged the difficulty of leaving home at a young age but expressed his excitement about joining a club with Mönchengladbach’s stature. “As a young player, of course, it is a difficult decision to leave the family and home behind,” he said. “But when the offer came from Borussia Mönchengladbach, a large and traditional club, I had to decide. I’m very happy to be here and can’t wait to get started.” His arrival adds further depth to Gladbach’s youth ranks and provides another potential long-term asset for the club.
This transfer signals Mönchengladbach’s commitment to developing young players and building for the future, providing Mujevic with a platform to progress his career in a competitive European league.
