France manager Didier Deschamps has urged Aurelien Tchouameni to resolve his club future before the start of the World Cup amid continued speculation linking the midfielder with a move to Manchester United. BBC Sport reports that the 26-year-old is among several midfield targets for United as they aim to strengthen the squad this summer.
Deschamps emphasized the importance of clarity for his players, stating in quotes relayed by RMC Sport that a settled situation is preferable to avoid distractions during the tournament in North America. Real Madrid have publicly stated Tchouameni is not for sale, adding a layer of complexity to any potential transfer.
United’s pursuit of West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes has encountered a challenge, with Jose Mourinho reportedly requesting Real Madrid to sign the 21-year-old, according to Spanish publication Diario AS. Fernandes was a standout performer for West Ham despite their relegation to the Championship, and has also attracted interest from Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain. Mourinho’s potential arrival at Real, contingent on Florentino Perez’s election victory, could see the club move for the young midfielder.
There has been a potential boost for United in their interest in Sandro Tonali, with Newcastle United reportedly identifying Udinese’s Arthur Atta as a possible replacement, as reported by The i Paper. Italy international Tonali is reportedly valued at €115m (£100m) by his current club, a fee which may prove prohibitive for United. Newcastle’s interest in Atta, valued at €30m (£26m), suggests they are preparing for Tonali’s potential departure.
United have also received a positive assessment of reported target Alex Scott, with Bournemouth’s Tyler Adams praising the 22-year-old’s development. Adams, speaking to talkSPORT’s Ben Jacobs, highlighted Scott’s “huge step” forward last season and their strong partnership in midfield. The Athletic previously reported that United have made enquiries regarding Scott’s availability, recognizing his ball-carrying abilities.
