TSG Hoffenheim are in discussions with clubs in Germany and abroad regarding a potential summer transfer for forward Fisnik Asllani, the club’s sporting managing director Andreas Schicker has confirmed.
The news comes after reports linking the 21-year-old with moves to Borussia Dortmund and FC Barcelona, signaling growing interest in the young striker. Schicker acknowledged the speculation and confirmed the presence of a release clause in Asllani’s contract, stating to Kicker, “The situation is that there are talks with clubs both domestically and abroad. It’s also no secret that Fisnik Asllani has a release clause.”
That release clause is reportedly valued at just under €30 million, making Asllani an attainable target for clubs seeking attacking reinforcements. Barcelona reportedly made initial contact regarding a possible move for Asllani in March, according to Kicker, though no formal offer has materialized at this stage.
Asllani has emerged as a key player for Hoffenheim since joining from Sturm Graz in January 2023, scoring seven goals in 32 Bundesliga appearances. His pace and clinical finishing have attracted attention from top clubs across Europe, and Hoffenheim appear prepared to cash in on their asset if their valuation is met. The player's development in the Bundesliga has been rapid, establishing him as a regular starter and a threat to opposing defenses.
Barcelona are known to be in the market for attacking options, particularly with the future of Robert Lewandowski uncertain. While the initial contact in March didn’t lead to immediate action, the club may revisit their interest depending on their summer transfer budget and priorities. Dortmund, meanwhile, could view Asllani as a potential replacement for Niclas Füllkrug should the German international depart.
Asllani’s departure would leave a void in Hoffenheim’s attack, but the reported release clause would provide the club with significant funds to reinvest in their squad. The transfer could also provide Asllani with the opportunity to play at a higher level and compete in the Champions League, furthering his development as a professional footballer.
