Juventus complete €40m signing of Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina
Juventus have finalized the permanent signing of Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat from Serie A rivals Fiorentina for an initial €40m fee, with add-ons potentially raising the total package to €45m. The 27-year-old has signed a four-year contract through June 2028, ending months of speculation about his future after his loan spell at Manchester United last season.
The deal concludes Juventus' prolonged pursuit of a physical midfield presence, with manager Massimiliano Allegri identifying Amrabat as crucial to balancing his squad's technical and defensive qualities. For Fiorentina, the sale represents significant financial progress after initially demanding €30m during January negotiations, ultimately securing 33% more than their winter valuation.
Amrabat's stock rose following his standout 2022 World Cup campaign with Morocco, though his subsequent loan to Manchester United yielded mixed results across 30 appearances. The midfielder now returns to Italy, where he previously made 107 Serie A appearances for Fiorentina between 2020-2023. His combative style is expected to complement Juventus' existing midfield options including Manuel Locatelli and Weston McKennie.
The transfer marks Juventus' second major midfield reinforcement this summer after the acquisition of Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa, signaling a strategic shift toward greater physicality in central areas. Fiorentina will reinvest portions of the fee into their ongoing squad rebuild under new manager Raffaele Palladino, having already secured replacements in former Napoli midfielder Eljif Elmas and Barcelona loanee Mika Faye.
