Juventus are exploring the possibility of re-signing defender Marko Muharemovic from Sassuolo, according to reports in Italy. The potential deal involves a 50% sell-on clause held by Juventus from Muharemovic’s previous transfer to Sassuolo following their promotion to Serie A.
Muharemovic initially joined Sassuolo for a nominal fee of one million euros, with Juventus retaining the right to half of any future profit made on his resale. Several Premier League clubs have reportedly shown interest in the 2003-born Bosnian, but have yet to make formal offers. Juventus are closely monitoring the situation, weighing up whether to bring him back to Turin or allow him to be sold for a significant profit to bolster their own transfer funds.
Juventus are currently in the market for a left-sided defender, with coach Luciano Spalletti seeking to strengthen the squad beyond the current options. While Timothy Kelly has shown promise, the club believes Muharemovic’s qualities would be a valuable addition to the team. The prospect of returning to Juventus, and reuniting with close friend Kenan Yildiz, is said to appeal to the player. A move would also offer Muharemovic the opportunity to compete in European football, with Juventus set to participate in the Europa League next season.
Juventus’ existing sell-on clause provides a financial advantage in any potential deal, but they will need to negotiate with Sassuolo, who are known for being tough negotiators. Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali is reportedly aiming to secure a fee exceeding 30 million euros, anticipating a potential bidding war following the European Championship. Juventus are considering offering young forward Petar Adzic as part of the deal, as he seeks more regular playing time after a season as a backup. The club is keen to avoid a repeat of the situation with Dean Huijsen, where a promising young player did not fully establish himself, and will carefully assess Muharemovic’s potential for growth before committing to a permanent transfer. A clearer picture of the situation is expected to emerge after the European Championship, where Muharemovic will represent Bosnia and Herzegovina.
