Juventus are preparing for a significant reshaping of their full-back options this summer, with coach Luciano Spalletti seeking tactical flexibility and the club needing to generate funds through player sales. According to reports in Tuttosport, the situation on the flanks is far from secure, and several players could be involved in transfer activity.
Last season saw Weston McKennie deployed at right-back and Andrea Cambiaso on the left, but Spalletti reportedly views McKennie as more valuable in a central midfield role. While the coach appreciates Cambiaso’s modern and unpredictable style of play, the Italy international is considered one of Juventus’s most marketable assets and a likely candidate to be sold to raise capital.
The 24-year-old Cambiaso has attracted interest from La Liga, with Barcelona reportedly monitoring his situation, with a valuation of around €40 million. A move to Chelsea was previously speculated, but the Blues have since prioritized a deal for another player. Juventus are also considering the possibility of renewing Cambiaso’s contract, which currently runs until 2027, should he remain at the club.
Spalletti intends to assess young defender Fabio Puczka during pre-season friendlies as a potential alternative on the left flank. Puczka impressed for Juventus Next Gen in Serie C last season and was initially earmarked for a loan spell in a top European league, with Bundesliga clubs showing interest. However, Spalletti wants to evaluate his capabilities with the first team. Should Cambiaso depart, Juventus are expected to pursue a high-profile replacement.
Several players have been identified as potential targets, including Djed Spence of Tottenham Hotspur, who featured for England at the World Cup, and Atletico Madrid’s Fabrizio Ruggeri, though his cost is considered high. Juventus have also revisited their interest in Mingueza, a free agent after leaving Celta Vigo, but face competition from Arsenal and Aston Villa for his signature. Juventus’s primary focus remains on securing funds through player sales before making significant additions to the squad.
