Juventus are broadening their search for a new goalkeeper after failing to secure Alisson Becker, according to reports from Italy. The club had reportedly been optimistic about bringing the Brazilian international back to Serie A on a free transfer, hoping to provide a reliable and experienced option for coach Luciano Spalletti. However, Alisson ultimately decided to remain at Liverpool, influenced by assurances of continued first-team status and potentially by Juventus’s absence from next season’s Champions League.
This setback has forced Juventus to reassess their options, with the club exploring a range of potential targets. While the pursuit of Alisson was attractive due to the low cost, Juventus are now facing significant fees for other established goalkeepers. Aston Villa are reportedly seeking €15 million for Emiliano Martínez, while Atlético Madrid are similarly reluctant to release Jan Oblak for less than a comparable sum. This financial hurdle is proving a major obstacle in the transfer market.
Currently, Guglielmo Vicario of Tottenham Hotspur represents a more financially viable option, and the club is actively pursuing that avenue. Juventus are prioritizing finding an Italian goalkeeper, and Vicario fits that criteria. Other names under consideration include Marco Carnesecchi, currently at Atalanta, though his club is expected to demand a substantial fee for his services. Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, who has experience in Italian football with Fiorentina, is also being considered as a potential option.
The situation with current Juventus goalkeepers Mattia Perin and Marco Di Gregorio is also uncertain. Both players are considered likely to leave the club, though neither has yet received a suitable offer. Perin, seen as the more experienced of the two, is hoping for a starting role elsewhere in Serie A, while Di Gregorio may be open to a backup position if the opportunity arises. Juventus are committed to finding the best possible solution within their budgetary constraints, and the search for a new number one continues.
