Juventus Women are set to sign Spanish forward Alba Redondo from Real Madrid, with the deal entering its final stages according to reports in Italy. The 27-year-old is expected to travel to Vinovo early next week to complete her move to the Turin club.
Redondo brings a significant goalscoring record with her, having previously excelled with Levante, where she scored 71 goals in 135 appearances. More recently, she found the net 28 times in two seasons with Real Madrid, establishing herself as a key player for the Spanish side. Beyond club football, Redondo is a prominent member of the Spanish national team, boasting 16 goals in 47 caps.
She was a crucial part of Spain’s successful 2023 World Cup campaign, playing as a starter in the final against England, which Spain won 1-0. Her role in the team’s triumph highlights her international pedigree and experience at the highest level of the game. The transfer is expected to be one of the most significant financial outlays in the history of Juventus Women, signaling the club’s ambition to compete at the top level.
Juventus are preparing for a crucial season, starting with a Champions League qualifier in early August. The arrival of Redondo is seen as a direct response to the team’s struggles in attack last season, with manager Michele Guerrero seeking to bolster his forward options. Juventus are also reportedly close to confirming the signing of Japanese attacker Chiba from Eintracht Frankfurt, while forward Cambiaghi is expected to depart the club. The team is currently in pre-season training in Chatillon, and will play their first friendly match against Servette today.
This acquisition will likely solidify Juventus’ position as contenders in Serie A and the Champions League, providing Guerrero with a proven goalscorer and international experience in the final third.
