Roma are preparing a significant summer transfer window backed by over €100 million following their qualification for the Champions League, their first appearance in the competition in seven years. Manager Gian Piero Gasperini is reportedly pushing for a squad capable of challenging for the Serie A title, and the club’s owners, the Friedkin family, are prepared to invest accordingly.
According to reports in the Italian press, the club is prioritizing reinforcements in the attacking positions, alongside contract renewals for key players Paulo Dybala, Celik, and Lorenzo Pellegrini. The successful Champions League campaign has eased concerns regarding Financial Fair Play regulations, allowing for greater financial flexibility.
Two primary targets have emerged: Mason Greenwood, currently on loan at Marseille, and Antonio Nusa of Club Brugge. Greenwood, through his father, has reportedly indicated a willingness to join Roma now that Champions League football is guaranteed, though Marseille value the player at around €50 million. Nusa is another long-term target for Gasperini, and could be available from Club Brugge this summer.
Crysencio Summerville, recently relegated with West Ham, is also being considered as a potential addition, with a price tag estimated at €35 million. The club also has an interest in Joshua Zirkzee, who will be allowed to leave Manchester United for a fee in the region of €25-30 million. Further options include Pepe of Porto and Julian Brandt, whose contract with Borussia Dortmund is expiring. Roma may see departures in attack, with Soulè attracting interest from Aston Villa, and El Shaarawy and Zaragoza expected to move on.
Dybala is nearing an agreement to renew his contract, accepting a reduced salary of €2.5 million per season plus bonuses. Roma are also exploring potential swap deals for a backup striker, including approaches to Fiorentina regarding Andrea Dovbyk. Gasperini has also requested reinforcements at left-back, with Dodò of Fiorentina among the options considered, and is scouting for potential talent in South America.
Midfielder Manu Koné is the most likely candidate to be sold to meet UEFA financial requirements, with Inter Milan expressing strong interest. Ismael Koné of Sassuolo is being considered as a potential replacement, alongside Schlager, who is available on a free transfer from RB Leipzig. The Friedkin family are fully supporting Gasperini’s plans, aiming to build a squad capable of competing at the highest level.
