Nathaniel Brown is set to join Bayern Munich from Eintracht Frankfurt, according to multiple reports in the German media.
Sky Sports Germany reported on Tuesday evening that the 23-year-old left-back will sign a five-year contract with the Bavarian club, with Bild also confirming the information shortly after. The reported transfer fee is €55 million. As of Wednesday morning, neither club has officially confirmed the move.
Brown’s current contract with Frankfurt runs until the summer of 2030, having joined the club from 1. FC Nürnberg in 2024. The transfer comes amidst the ongoing World Cup tournament, where Brown has been a standout performer for the German national team. He will, however, miss Germany’s match against Ecuador due to an adductor injury.
Former Germany international Bastian Schweinsteiger, speaking as a pundit for ARD, praised the transfer, stating it was a positive move for both Bayern and Frankfurt. “He has developed superbly and has incredible potential beyond that,” Schweinsteiger commented.
Brown scored his first international goal in Germany’s 7-1 victory over Curaçao at the World Cup, marking a significant moment in his burgeoning career. He made his debut for the national team in October and quickly established himself as a starter under head coach Julian Nagelsmann, earning his place in the World Cup starting eleven after only five senior appearances.
The rapid ascent of the former Under-21 international has justified Nagelsmann’s faith in him, and his performances have attracted the attention of one of Europe’s biggest clubs. Bayern Munich will be hoping Brown can provide competition and long-term cover at left-back. Frankfurt will be left to reinvest the significant fee received for a player who quickly became a key component of their squad.
This transfer further strengthens Bayern Munich’s squad ahead of next season, and provides a clear indication of their ambition to continue dominating the Bundesliga.
