Rafael Leao has reiterated his desire to leave AC Milan, signalling the end of a seven-year spell with the club that included a Serie A title and Supercoppa victory. The Portuguese forward has expressed dissatisfaction with recent months at the San Siro and is actively seeking a new challenge, according to reports in Italy.
Leao’s potential destinations are currently being debated, with bookmakers placing Arsenal, the Saudi Pro League, and Galatasaray as joint favourites at 5.00. The player himself has previously indicated a preference for the Premier League, viewing it as his ideal next step. However, lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia and Turkey, offering significant wages and potentially less pressure, remain viable options.
Arsenal’s interest is predicated on adding attacking depth to Mikel Arteta’s squad, although Leao would likely face competition for a starting position. A move to Galatasaray or the Saudi Pro League would represent a lifestyle change for the player, prioritizing financial gain and potentially allowing him to focus on personal interests, including his music career. Manchester United (6.00), Fenerbahce (9.00), and Chelsea (12.00) are also considered possibilities, though their odds are less favourable.
The situation at Milan has deteriorated to the point where a departure is considered inevitable. Leao recently praised former Milan coach Stefano Pioli as the best manager he has worked with, further highlighting his current discontent. Odds on Leao remaining at Milan have already risen to 7.50 and are expected to increase as the transfer window progresses. His performances have dipped in recent months, and a successful showing at any upcoming international tournament could significantly influence his market value and potential suitors. A move away would allow Milan to rebuild and potentially reinvest funds in other areas of the squad.
