Liverpool have reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, though securing a deal remains a significant challenge. The potential transfer comes as Liverpool seek to replace Mohamed Salah following his departure this summer, with the club already having signed Victor Munoz from Osasuna.
According to Media Foot, Diomande is keen on a move to Anfield, and Liverpool have secured an understanding with his representatives. Paris Saint-Germain were also interested, but the French club are reportedly unwilling to meet Leipzig’s valuation. However, TEAMtalk urges caution, noting that several hurdles remain before a deal can be finalised and other sources have yet to corroborate the agreement.
Diomande, currently with Ivory Coast at the 2026 World Cup, has become Liverpool’s top winger target, with Bradley Barcola of Paris Saint-Germain identified as an alternative. Leipzig are determined to retain the 19-year-old, and are prepared to offer him a new contract with a release clause. The German club currently value Diomande at £128 million, which would make him the most expensive player in Premier League history, surpassing Alexander Isak’s recent move to Newcastle United.
Sky Germany reports that Leipzig rejected a €100 million package from Liverpool, reaffirming their desire to keep Diomande for at least another season. They are seeking a fee significantly above that amount, citing his age, long-term contract, and rising market value. While the player is not considered untouchable, Leipzig are leveraging these factors to demand a premium. As of now, no second offer has been made by Liverpool, nor has PSG submitted a bid. Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola is believed to be a key factor in attracting Diomande, with the player reportedly excited by the prospect of becoming a central figure in the new era at Anfield. A six-year contract has been tentatively outlined, with a financial package that could prove difficult for Leipzig to match.
