Manchester United and Newcastle United have both registered interest in Nottingham Forest right-back Neco Williams, according to TEAMtalk. Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring the situation with the Welsh international, though a move to Old Trafford is reportedly particularly appealing to the player.
Williams, 25, has become a key figure for Forest since his arrival from Liverpool in 2022, establishing himself as a reliable performer in their defensive setup. He progressed through Liverpool’s academy, but ultimately found more consistent first-team opportunities at the City Ground.
Nottingham Forest are actively working to retain Williams, currently engaged in contract talks described as constructive by sources close to the club. Forest are prepared to offer a significantly improved financial package in an attempt to ward off potential suitors, echoing their successful efforts last season to convince Morgan Gibbs-White to reject a move to Tottenham.
The club’s firm stance is rooted in a desire to avoid further departures after losing Elliot Anderson to Manchester City, and to provide new manager Oliver Glasner with a strong squad capable of challenging for European qualification next season. While Williams is open to a move to a larger club, particularly Manchester United, Forest’s commitment to him has so far stalled any potential transfer.
However, the situation could change should a Champions League club make a formal offer. As of now, neither United nor Newcastle have submitted a bid, leaving Williams’ future uncertain until a concrete approach is made. The transfer window remains open, allowing time for negotiations to develop and potentially reshape Forest’s squad.
