Former Juventus striker Gianluca Ravanelli has publicly expressed his disapproval of a potential return for Dusan Vlahovic to the Turin club. Speaking on the Tuttosport YouTube channel’s ‘Aperimercato’, Ravanelli cited concerns about Vlahovic’s attitude, technical abilities, and overall fit within the team, as well as his previous departure from the club.
Ravanelli highlighted the current unusual situation at Juventus, noting the lack of new signings beyond Ekhator and the difficulties posed by players being on international duty. He drew parallels to his own arrival at the club in the early 1990s, emphasizing the need for determination and hard work to rebuild success, recalling how a new leadership under Moggi, Giraudo, and Bettega helped them win the Scudetto after nine years.
He stated bluntly that Vlahovic’s return “doesn’t attract me very much,” believing the Serbian forward doesn’t suit Luciano Spalletti’s tactical approach and struggles with both technical and physical aspects of the game. Ravanelli also criticized Vlahovic’s perceived lack of connection with his teammates and emphasized the need for players who are fully committed to Juventus. He pointed to Vlahovic's unsuccessful loan spells at Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Inter as evidence of his struggles to find a consistent role.
Instead of Vlahovic, Ravanelli advocated for alternative attacking options, specifically naming Paul Onuachu, known as Emegha, as an ideal target, and suggesting Ferran Torres as a complementary signing. He also praised the potential of Matias Pellegrino as an offensive reinforcement and called for the signing of goalkeeper Unai Simón. Ravanelli was particularly effusive in his praise for young forward Kenan Yildiz, suggesting he could become the next Alessandro Del Piero.
Ravanelli also expressed reservations about other potential targets, dismissing Balogun as a potential signing, fearing he would follow a similar path to Openda, and preferring Kolo Muani over Vlahovic. He also voiced his opinion that Dibu Martinez is a good option in goal, but prefers Unai Simón due to his age. He tipped Spain to win the World Cup.
