Rangers manager Danny Röhl has addressed speculation linking him with a return to the Bundesliga, stating his commitment remains with the Scottish club. Reports in Germany had suggested Röhl was a candidate for head coaching positions at VfL Wolfsburg, 1. FC Union Berlin, and Bayer Leverkusen, prompting the Rangers boss to respond in an interview with Bild.
Röhl acknowledged the presence of rumours, noting similar speculation occurred last summer. He indicated that if reports were to be believed, he would have already secured numerous managerial roles. However, he firmly stated his focus is currently on his duties at Ibrox, emphasizing his enjoyment of the competitive environment and international football offered by Rangers.
The 37-year-old also refuted claims of a release clause existing within his contract with the Glasgow side. Röhl was appointed as Rangers manager in October 2025, signing a deal that extends through 2028, demonstrating the club’s long-term faith in his leadership.
Prior to taking the helm at Rangers, Röhl gained experience as an assistant coach with Bayern Munich and the German national team. This background provided him with valuable exposure to high-level football, contributing to his rapid ascent in the managerial ranks. His arrival at Ibrox was seen as a significant appointment, with the club hoping he could deliver a sustained period of success.
Rangers currently compete for domestic honours in the Scottish Premiership and participate in European competitions, factors Röhl highlighted as key attractions of his current position. By publicly dismissing the links to Bundesliga clubs, Röhl appears intent on quelling any potential distractions and concentrating on the challenges ahead with Rangers, potentially solidifying his position as a key figure in Scottish football for the foreseeable future.
