Tottenham Hotspur have shifted their focus in the transfer market, prioritizing Manchester City’s Savinho and Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo as potential wing additions, according to Fabrizio Romano. This comes after initial links to AC Milan’s Rafael Leao, with Romano stating he is currently unaware of any ongoing negotiations between Spurs and the Italian club regarding the Portuguese international.
Spurs have been heavily backed by ownership this summer, already securing six first-team signings including Martin Dubravka, Andy Robertson, and Marcos Senesi on free transfers, alongside significant investments in Jan Paul van Hecke, Mateus Fernandes, and Sandro Tonali totaling £237 million. Manager Roberto De Zerbi is reportedly driving the club’s recruitment strategy.
While Tottenham had previously shown interest in Leao, with the player himself reportedly open to a move to North London, a potential deal valued around €60 million (£51 million) is now considered less likely. Savinho, a 22-year-old Brazilian winger, has emerged as the club’s primary target, with Gakpo serving as a backup option should a deal for Savinho fail to materialize.
Manchester City are reportedly willing to sanction the sale of Savinho this summer. The winger has expressed a willingness to join Tottenham, who previously attempted to sign him last year. A transfer fee of around £60 million is expected to be required to secure his services. Liverpool, however, are currently unwilling to allow Gakpo to depart Anfield, complicating a potential move for the Dutch forward.
Tottenham are also reportedly close to securing a deal for Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi, who can play as either a striker or left winger, potentially reducing the need for a specialist winger. The pursuit of Savinho and Gakpo suggests Tottenham are aiming to add further attacking firepower to De Zerbi’s squad as they prepare for the upcoming Premier League season.
